A heartwarming video has emerged showing the three horses that fled the wildfire in Western Attica drinking water directly from the hands of firefighters after escaping the advancing flames.
The footage has become one of the most memorable images from the recent wildfire near Kandili, at the military firing range close to Megara.
Earlier this week, dramatic video captured the three horses galloping in panic toward safety as flames rapidly spread behind them.
The images sparked widespread concern over the animals’ fate.
Fortunately, all three horses appear to have survived the fire. Although visibly exhausted and distressed, they seem to be in good health.
A firefighter later shared a video showing colleagues trying to give the horses water despite not having a suitable container available. Using their hands, they managed to provide the animals with a small amount of water—far less than the quantity horses normally require each day, but enough to offer some immediate relief after their ordeal.
