A wildfire broke out on Friday afternoon (14 August) in a wooded area near Pyli on the island of Kos.
Firefighting forces were mobilised immediately, including 15 firefighters with 6 vehicles, volunteers, three aircraft and two helicopters.
Heavy machinery and local council water tankers are also assisting. In addition, seven firefighters from the 11th Special Forest Firefighting Unit (EMODE) are being flown in from Rhodes aboard a Fire Service helicopter.
