The latest forecasting data suggest the drop in temperature will be lasting, with the mercury set to remain at more autumnal levels in the coming days as well.

With the meltemi winds easing, temperatures are climbing again, and instability will stay limited. All the signs, however, point to autumn being just around the corner.

Weather turns from Sunday

Today, Thursday 10 September 2026, most areas can expect clear conditions, with the exception of the west, where scattered showers are likely over the mountains after midday.

Temperatures will reach 35 to 36 degrees on the mainland and 31 degrees in Crete, the Dodecanese and the Ionian islands. In the Cyclades and the northern Aegean, highs will be limited to 28 degrees Celsius.

Winds in the Aegean will blow from northerly to north-westerly directions, locally reaching force 6, while in the Ionian they will blow from varying directions and will not exceed force 4.

Attica will see sunshine throughout the day. Temperatures will range from 21 to 33 degrees, with northerly winds in eastern areas locally reaching force 5.

Thessaloniki will see only light cloud cover. Winds over the Thermaic Gulf will be weak, with the maximum temperature reaching 32 degrees.

No significant change is expected in the weather picture on Friday. The meltemi winds will continue in the Aegean, temperatures will remain at roughly the same levels, and no notable rain is expected.

On Saturday, the northerly winds will ease and temperatures will rise slightly. From the afternoon onwards, however, rain and scattered storms are expected in parts of northern Greece.

The weather will take on a more autumnal character from Sunday. Temperatures will begin to fall, while rain will intensify and affect more areas of the country.

According to the latest forecasting data, the drop in temperature looks set to last, with the mercury remaining at more autumnal levels in the days that follow.
