Changes to the way parcels delivered through courier companies are paid for are being introduced by the new bill of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, which was put out for public consultation late last night.

Under the provisions of the new framework, payments upon delivery of parcels will have to be made using electronic means of payment, such as bank cards and e-banking, instead of cash.

The regulation mainly concerns cash-on-delivery transactions, in which consumers pay for their order at the moment they receive the parcel from the courier company.

The aim of the measure is to reduce the use of cash in everyday transactions, strengthen transparency, and expand electronic payments into another area of economic activity.

Public Consultation Until October 22

It is recalled that the bill also includes a series of measures concerning households, farmers and consumers.

The public consultation will conclude on Thursday, October 22, at 10:00 a.m., with the aim of the bill being submitted to Parliament and voted on in the first week of November.
