Two men have been transferred to Corinth Hospital with serious injuries from the Motor Oil facilities in Agioi Theodoroi, according to sources from the 6th Regional Health Authority. According to reports, the men are aged 43 and 50, and both have been intubated.
According to initial reports, the two injured men were working for a contractor and carrying out work as part of the refinery’s general maintenance operations.
The explosion is believed to have been caused by the presence of gases. Following the incident, the remaining workers were evacuated from the facilities.
According to the official statement from Motor Oil:
“Today, at 11 a.m., two workers were seriously injured during extensive preventive maintenance at our refinery. The workers immediately received the prescribed first aid and were transferred to hospital. Their condition is serious, and they are receiving the appropriate medical care. From the very first moment, all established safety and emergency response protocols were activated.”
