4.1 magnitude earthquake recorded in Crete

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake occurred on Fridya off the coast of Crete, on the island of Chrysi Lassithi. The focal depth was measured at seven kilometres.

The Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens announced that today, at 10:31 Greek time, the seismological network recorded a weak seismic vibration with a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale. The earthquake occurred at a distance of 464 km SE of Athens.

The epicentre of the tremor is located in the sea area 76 km SE of the city of Chrysi Lassithi.
