Gay-themed traffic lights in Vienna for Eurovision!

It’s euro-kitsch time again! May, besides other occasions, is the month that hosts the annual Eurovision Song Contest, which this year will be held in Vienna.
Given that last year the androgynous (and bearded transvestite) Conchita Wurst won the competition, Vienna “honoured” the occasion with … gay-themed traffic lights!
According to a Reuters dispatch, the traffic lights in the centre of the Austrian capital have been programmed to show two male or two female couples with hearts, instead of the usual single and genderless figure.

Reuters reports that the campaign aims to boost Vienna’s gay friendly credentials, and to draw the attention of motorists and pedestrians alike.
Wurst’s “Rise like a Phoenix” took first place at the contest last year, earning the country she represented the right to host the now globally watched competition.
