Greek students beat Harvard at moot court… again!

The best future lawyers in the world appear to be Greek

The legal team of students from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, has struck again beating their peers from institutions such as Harvard University in moot court! The team came first in the Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot 2015 held in London from October 29 to November 1.

Prestigious universities from around the world came to compete, including Harvard University, Georgetown University, King’s College London, University of Hong Kong, University of Buenos Aires, University of Ottawa, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, Lomonosov State University of Moscow, National Law School of India University (Bangalore),  University of Helsinki and the University of Oslo (PluriCourts).

The FDI Moot focused on investment protection and called on students to come to grips with various Laws concerning international financial disputes. It was the third time that the Greek students had participated in the FDI Moot. Participating students that brought home the prize for Greece were Despina Arslanidis, Eleftherios Dafermos, Thomas Papadoyiannis Varouhis, Dimitris Stamatis, Nikoletta Halidopoulou and Maria-Eleni Chrysanthakopoulou. The team’s coaches were students irini Kikarea and Kleoniki-Maria Sergaki, who had successfully represented their university at the FDI Moot 2014.
