Greek trade deficit drops by 19.3% in Jan-Sept

The value of import-arrivals amounted to 3.563 billion euros in September

Greece’s trade deficit dropped by 24.2% in September and by 19.3% during the nine-month period this year compared with the same periods in 2014, according to a report published by Hellenic Statistical Authority.

The report mentions that the value of import-arrivals amounted to 3.563 billion euros in September, recording a drop of 18.3% from September 2014 (excluding oil products the value of imports fell by 3.4%).

The total value of exports-dispatches, in September 2015 amounted to 2011,8 million euros (2264,2 million dollars) in comparison with 2313,6 million euros (2993,8 million dollars) in September 2014, recording a drop, in euros, of 13,0%. The corresponding change excluding oil products recorded an increase of 27,3 million euros or 1,9%.

The deficit of the trade balance, in September 2015 amounted to 1551,5 million euros (1722,5 million dollars) in comparison with 2046,6 million euros (2615,0 million dollars) in September 2014, recording a drop, in euros, of 24,2%. The corresponding change excluding oil products recorded a drop of 122,9 million euros or 8,7%

In the January-September period, the value of imports amounted to 31.911 billion euros, recording a drop of 10.9% from last year (excluding oil products imports fell by 2.0%). The value of exports amounted to 19.271 billion euros, down 4.4% from the same period last year (excluding oil products exports grew by 11.1 pct).

Greece’s trade deficit shrank to 12.640 billion euros in the January-September period recording a drop of 19.3% from last year (excluding oil products the trade deficit fell by 15.5%).
