Hellenic Police arrested the leader of the gang of Georgians who had tortured and killed the 67-year-old owner of a restaurant in Hydra Emmanuel Economou last August during the robbery.

Police investigations had been carried out for months in order to find him, who along with a woman had managed to leave the island with the loot just before police arrested the rest of the seven Georgians.

Eventually, the Georgian was arrested in Athens three months after the savage crime he committed as he lived in an apartment in Kallithea.

Οfficial statements are expected to be made by Hellenic Police later today.
