Justice Minister Haralambos Athanassiou on Friday sent six case files involving current and former government ministers, including Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, to Parliament.
The first concerned a suit filed by a private citizen in Halkida against the prime minister, Development and Competitiveness Minister Nikos Dendias (in his previous capacity as public order and citizen protection minister) and Athanassiou himself over a recorded conversation between the premier’s former office director Takis Baltakos and ultra-right Golden Dawn MP Ilias Kasidiaris. A second suit over the same issue has also been filed by another four private citizens.
Case files were also sent over a suit filed by a private citizen against the ministers of foreign affairs, environment and national defence, another relating to an anonymous complaint against former interior minister Yiannis Mihelakis and a case file based on an anonymous complaint against Dendias in his current capacity and Deputy Finance Minister George Mavraganis.
Also sent to Parliament was the report of the assistant prosecutor for financial crimes Ioannis Dragatsis, attached to the preliminary case file drawn up on the basis of an anonymous complaint by a member of the Legal Council of State against former finance minister George Papaconstantinou over the Vatopedi monastery affair.
