Platelet Rich Plasma is a non-surgical procedure unde whish the PRP is taken from the patient’s own blood and then re-injected into other areas. The procedure is used for anti-ageing in India, however Greek doctors are studying whether PRP can also be helpful in repairing damaged heart tissue, reports the World Journal of Cardiology.

The successful anti-ageing treatment in effect in India, is now being investigated for use in life-threatening situations such as after heart attacks. Greek researchers have undertaken and analyzed the studies looking into the use of PRP after heart attacks where heart tissue is rendered useless at reparing itself.

Meanwhile, the technology is a success as far as cosmtic use is concerned where patient’s own blood is re-injected into the areas of the face and neck to treat wrinkles and rejuvinate the skin.

The use of PRP has been on a constant rise in India where people use it to improve skin tone, horizontal lines, texture, smootheness, folds and scarring among other things. It even stimulates hair re-growth by reinforcing the vascular endothelial growth factors that stimulate collagen and elastic fibres. Recent research has shown that it is effective in treating male and female-pattern baldness.

Now it is being taken further and explored as a treatment for bone and tissue healing bearing in mind that the normal human platelet count is 150,000 350,000, the PRP can have as much as 10,00,000 platelet count and this high concentration can be put to use in the medical healing process.
