A 71-year-old man was arrested at the area of Langadas, northern Greece, following a police raid into his home. The suspect and a 53-year-old man living in the same house were arrested after two hundred and sixty ancient coins and four lamps dated back to the Byzantine era were found.
Police had acted on a tip off. The man had previously been convicted for antiquity smuggling whereas the 53-year-old had been deported and banned from entering Greece.
