Want free high-speed internet? NYC erects world’s first ‘masturbation booth’ for overstressed workers

Another surprise in New York City

Newsroom January 25 07:53

A ‘masturbation booth’ called GuyFi mysteriously popped up in New York City this January. Erected by Hot Octopuss on 28th Street and 5th Avenue in New York, the premise behind the booth is for men to head there and go to relieve themselves. Inside, the men can find a chair and a laptop as well as lots of tissues. Best yet, the booth is completely free of charge. “We hope the city’s men enjoy using the space we’ve created in whatever way they want.”

London sex toy manufacturer Hot Octopuss says that the Time Out servey that found that 39% of New York men admitted to masturbating while at work. Another survey of 1,000 men by Glamour magazine found that 31% of its readers had done so.

Hence, the company found a niche in the market and decided to fill it in a very simple way (by adapting a telephone booth). Hot Octopuss believes that in this way, the men can “take this habit out of the office and into a more suitable environment designed to give the buy Manhattan man the privacy and the high-speed Internet connection, he deserves.”
It’s still too early to tell how successful this new invention can be and how many will use it to ‘self soothe’ in a city known for its plush offices. The brand says that 100 men used it on its inaugural day though its still hard to tell if there will be long lines forming outside.
If successful, Hot Octopuss promised more pop-up booths around Manhattan and other major U.S. cities. And who knows? They may even go global. Greece get ready!
