5 Greek restaurants keep quality flag high with Michelin Stars

They all retained their stars in the 2016 Michelin guide released

Newsroom March 9 04:15

The Michelin Stars rating guide is considered the bible for the all gourmet lovers and bon viviers, with a history of food critique spanning over a century. It is something like the Nobel Prize for food. Suffice it to say that many chefs have lost their sleep, and even their minds (literally) over either getting that coveted Michelin Star or retaining it. It is a serious business. It is no surprise then that the 5 Greek restaurants that retained their stars in the new Michelin Star guide were elated. The 5 restaurants that retained their Stars were: ‘Spondi’ (2 stars), Funky Gourmet (2 stars), Botrini’s (1 Star), Hytra (1 Star) and Varoulko (1 Star).
Spondi, located in Pagrati, Athens, on Pyrronos 5 is undoubtedly a focal point for anyone who knows Athens food culture. It offers a modern French cuisine with exquisite presentation. No surprise it held on to its 2 Stars.

Funky Gournet is another 2 Star holder, and deservedly so. Fun and sophisticated cuisine is uniquely fused with a fantastic result. The restaurant was afforded its 1st star in 2012 and second one in 2014. You can enjoy its funky dishes at the corner of
13 Paramythias St and Salamina in Keramikos. ph: 210 5242727

Botrini’s also retained its 1 star received in 2014. It is situated in the northern part of Athens in the municipality of Chalandri, 24B’ Basileos Georgiou St. Its minimal interior design aesthetics with a splash of subtle luxury and new touches on the menu made it a worthy receiver of the 2014 Star.
