The Greek government finds itself between a rock and hard place on how to deal with the situation at the Idomeni refugee camp on its northern borders. Following Monday night’s desperate attempt by about 700 refugees to cross the Greek-FYROM borders from a different point, which ended up in the their arrest by the FYROM military, the Greek authorities are seriously considering avoiding the use of force in order to move the refugees from Idomeni to other camps to the interior of Greeec. Over 30 photojournalists were also arrested by the FYROM authorities during the operations on Monday. The government hopes to convince via dialogue the refugees trapped at Idomeni to relocate to other reception centres. Meanwhile, hundreds of other refugees and illegal immigrants have gathered at the point where the failed attempt by the 700 took place on Monday, with large Greek police forces present on the Greek side of the borders and FROM militarty on the other side ready to prevent any other crossing. In the latest developments the Greek government deliberating on whether to allow the 700 refugees that crossed into FYROM back into Greece.
