The Greek National Opera celebrates the Athenian summer with a large open-air surprise-concert.

The Greek National Opera Soloists and Chorus interpret arias, duets and choruses from the repertoire’s most popular operas at the city centre in the emblematic archaeological site of Olympeion at the Arch of Hadrian.

They will be singing in Greek honouring the Greek National Opera’s great and longstanding tradition of presenting the works in Greek until the late ‘70s. The GNO’s archive contains excellent translations of librettos from all the famous works into the Greek language, such as The Barber of Seville, Carmen, The Pearl Fishers, La traviata, Macbeth, Nabucco and Othello.

The audience will also have the opportunity to hear the Greek version of La donne è mobile and Lucia di Lammermoor.

The concert will take place on July 8 at 20.30 and admission is free for the audience with priorities tickets which will be distributed at the entrance of the site two hours before the begin of the concert.
