While the situation is still out of control in Idomeni and Piraeus, refugees refuse leaving the makeshift camps and try to find ways to stay in Greece and avoid being sent back to Turkey by submitting asylum applications.

The number of asylum applications reportedly reached 10,000 and the Greek authorities are unable to process such a big number of applications, therefore the deportation process has been significantly delayed. Under the agreement, about 2,500 experts should have come from Europe to Greece to help with the asylum process, but up to now just a few have arrived.

At the same time, new incident broke out on the Greek island of Samos, when about 560 immigrants began protesting strongly demanding to leave.

The two police officers who guard the hotspot tried to calm them down risking their own physical integrity. But, the immigrants insisted on opening the doors to leave, while they send the company responsible for their meals away refusing to eat.

The immigrants left the hotspot trying to find other means to leave the island and avoid being sent back to Turkey.
