European Commission spokesperson Margaritis Schinas told ‘Thema’ correspondent that no deal is expected to be struck on Friday, April 22 when the crucial Eurgroup meeting convenes in Amsterdam. Schinas dubbed the meetings in Washington ‘constructive’ during the press briefing, adding that Friday’s Eurogroup meeting will be ‘a significant point in time to record progress’. The Brussels bureaucrat stressed that the representatives of Greece’s lenders will be in Athens Monday and Tuesday to continue deliberations. ‘The success of the negotiations depends on all sides and not just the Commission’, said Schinas. He noted that progress had been made in the negotiations. Finally, he made to clear that the goal was to reach an agreement as soon as possible.
