During January 2016, museums experienced a 12.4% increase in the number of visitors and a 33.7% increase in the number of free admission visitors, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said on Friday.

A decrease of 1.1% was recorded in their receipts, in comparison with the corresponding month of 2015.

As regards archaeological sites, in January 2016, an increase of 6.7% was recorded in the number of visitors and a 48.6% increase in the number of free admission visitors.

A decrease of 10.6% was observed in their receipts, in comparison with the corresponding month of 2015.
