France transforms trains to look like Versailles (pics)

As part of an ongoing “Art in Transit” project

Newsroom May 24 04:47

France’s national state-owned rail service SNCF decided to transform a number of SNCF trains as part of an ongoing “Art in Transit” project that recreates country’s most iconic tourist sites to everyday commuters.

In collaboration with American manufacturing company 3M and ADKEYS, the SNCF covers the interiors of the rains with graphic film that contains various famous works of art for passengers to peruse.

The latest installment features a second edition of Versailles-themed décor inside five cars on the RER C train line that runs between Paris and Versailles.

“The scenic designs are adapted to the configuration of the train,” an SNCF rep said in a released statement, “and are generally lightened to work with the light, colorful new train design.”

This recreation will be enjoyed by passengers travelling from Paris to Versailles and will be running from May 25.
