A total of 4 million taxpayers have fallen into arrears with the Greek tax services, according to data released by the Finance Ministry, Thursday. The General Secretariat for Public Revenues said one in two people have overdue debts to the tax office, with a barrage compulsory measures like confiscations, bank account freezings and auctioning off properties for overdue debts expected to be imposed on nearly 800,000 people. Of the 4,003,372 people who had unsettled debts with the tax office by the end of June, the Finance Ministry said it could implement enforcement measures to 1,492,088 taxpayers, as large number could not have any assets or are protected by the non-seizure account threshold. The new overdue debts to the Greek state have climbed to 6.87bln Euros at the end of June, a 1.28bln rise from the previous month. The Greek state has managed to receive 881mn Euros from those debts. The new figures boost the aggregate overdue figure of 83bln Euros in 2016 towards the Greek state to nearly 50% of the annual GDP!
