Mitsotakis leads Tsipras in public opinion polls

Public Issue gallup: 9 in 10 say Greece is heading the wrong way

When asked in a public opinion survey to describe the state of the nation, 28% of respondents answered “rage,” 25% said “frustration” and 19% replied “disgrace,” while only 14% responded that they want the current government.
According to Public Issue’s monthly political barometer, Greeks are experiencing tremendous frustration at the state of the nation.  Specifically, 9 out of 10 (88%) believe that the country is going in the wrong direction. Only 8% think that the path being followed is the right one, and in response to the question “How you feel about the state of the nation?,” 28% replied “rage/anger,” 25% “frustration” and 19% “disgrace.”
Regarding political figures, 45% of respondents had a positive opinion of New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, compared to 24% for Greek premier Alexis Tsipras. Forty-two percent of those surveyed believe that Mitsotakis is most suitable candidate for the office of prime minister versus 22% who prefer Alexis Tsipras.
Lastly, in response to the question “What is the best government for the country?,” 32% chose New Democracy. Only 14% prefer the current administration, while the majority of those surveyed (52%) have responded “neither of the two.” When asked whether elections were necessary, 53% were opposed and 45% in favor.
