“We are facing a major archaeological find, as the figures show”, said Minister of Culture Constantinos Tasoulas, on the findings in Amphipolis.
The Culture minister, speaking to Mega TV Channel, noted that “archaeology is a science that goes at its own pace”, following the statements made yesterday by prime Minister Samaras who urger people to be patient for the final announcements and not to rush to judgment whether this tomb is associated with the reign of Alexander the Great.
“We will wait two to three weeks to draw reliable conclusions and get into the grave”, said Mr. Tasoulas, adding that “the data will give us the truth”.
“Cassander massacred Allexander the Fourth and Roxanne and instructed his people to hide them. The hiding part is inconsistent with putting in a 30-40 meters tomb”, said the Minister.
“Everything we say may not be true and we must be very careful”. About the resources for the study and the information that there were problems in their administration, the minister clarified that “there has never been a problem” and that the funds have been secured. As he stated, the PM has been watching the dig since the start and wants to see how it progresses.
Mr. Tasoulas, meanwhile, attacked the opposition party about the criticism that the government is pinning its hopes on archaeological findings.
“SYRIZA is afraid lest there ben an important event in the country, because the party is only synonymous with failure and distress”, stressed the Culture Minister and added “SYRIZA exists because things were not going well. When things improve, it panics because they believe they will have no reason ofe being”/
