Titled “Enter Pyongyang”, company JT Sigh Vimeo in collaboration with director Rob Whitworth and the local tourist office Koryo Tours got permission to shoot this video that reveals the “secret” lives of Pyongyang residents.
JT Sigh is excited that they got permission to film life in North korea without many restrictions and in this video they give snapshots of the everyday life of citizens, despite the totalitarian regime in which they live.
Women traffic wardens are smiling, despite the reputation to the contrary and metro station guards share a smile with the video’s creators. The citizens of this country are entirely natural during filming, at work or in parks where children enjoy a sunny day.
However, during the filming, the video creators admit that their every move was under the control of the Tourism Directorate of the country and they were denied to visit places prohibited to all tourists in North Korea. These are the underdeveloped areas, military zones and construction sites.
