One person was killed and 55 injured when a massive explosion occurred near an airport in the Italian city of Bologna on Monday.
Footage from the scene shows a huge fireball shooting into the sky and plumes of black smoke could be seen from many kilometres away.
Local police said it was an accident on a motorway that caused the blast. It’s believed a tanker exploded on a motorway close to the airport about 12.50pm local time.
Terrified residents reported their houses “shook” when the vehicle exploded at around 12.50pm.
Fire and ambulance crews are at the scene and the motorway has been closed in both directions.
