The Minister underlined that although political conclusions will be drawn, extrapolating the euroelections’ results to national elections is something that does not happen in other European countries. Mr. Mitsotakis added that “in Britain, according to polls, the ruling party comes 3rd but nobody raises an issue of resignation of the government”.
Speaking on the radio station “Parapolitika 90.1”, Kyriakos Mitsotakis forecast that “SYRIZA will be the big loser in the elections”. “According to my opinion, there won’t be any political developments in the aftermath of the elections,” he specifically said.
The Administrative Reform Minister stressed that “there is absolutely no pre-election relaxation. The government has been implementing a plan for the recovery of the country and the economy over the last two years. We will remain committed to that plan.”
However, he stressed the need for further efforts regarding structural reforms that can improve the competitiveness of the economy.
Mr. Mitsotakis also said the new selection system for public sector’s general managers will soon be put to public consultation, and reiterated that “the first part of the mobility programme involving 25,000 public sector employees has been completed” while an agreement disconnecting mobility from layoffs has been reached with the troika.
