In an interview with Ant1 TV on Monday, Development Minister Nikos Dendias noted that the government plans to deal with the issue of non-performing loans, which amount to around 80 billion euros, as part of its efforts to restore market liquidity.
Regarding the lifting of the protection status against first-home foreclosures, the Development Minister said that the issue was not discussed with the troika or with anyone else. He also added that the issue would not be discussed before December, the month when the current protection period will expire.
Mr. Dendias also underlined that during the negotiations with the troika he raised the issue of granting more business loans through the National Reference Strategic Framework (NSRF), a recommendation that was also reiterated by the Prime Minister during his speech at the opening ceremony at TIF.
