During 2014 Greece has a new record on calls for help but less suicides

24 hour helpline 1018 has received in the first quarter of 2014 over 6.500 calls of which the 3.664 were made by people with suicide issues

According to the Suicide Network Records of the Prevention Center of the NGO “Scale”, compare to 2013 , Greece had much less suicides in the first quarter of 2014. However the age range on suicide has increased to the ages of 40-44.
On the occasion of this years World Suicide Prevention Day on the 10th of September, new information have been presented for the first eight months of 2013 were the suicides amounted to 229(193 men and 36 women), while at the first eight months of 2014 the suicides decreased to 209 (173 man and 36 women).

The scientific director of the NGO “Scale” psychiatrist Kyriakos Katsadoros has characterized this trend as “pretty clear”, while added that the organization is not a statistical service. Further the consultative psychologist of “Scale” Aris Violatzis said that : ” We believe and we have seen that there is no growth in suicides. The phenomenon seems to have reached its peak and now descends.
