Newsroom September 16 08:19

The release of the book by the writer Ms Naomi Klein «This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs The Climate» is expected to reach the American shelves on Thursday, while in its excerpts as published in the NATION magazine, the Canadian writer reveals that the Greek leader of the political right party SYRIZA, during their meeting in Athens, had admitted that : ” The center of attention of our political party was the environment and climate change, but since the recession in Greece over the past few years, all that was forgotten”.
Ms Klein which Mr. Tsipras once got her mixed up with Naomi Campbell, in one of her books excerpts mentions characteristically: ” About a year ago i was dining with some friends in Athens. The following morning i had a scheduled interview with Mr. Tsipras, the leader of the opposition in Greece and one of the few sources of optimism in a Europe ravaged by austerity”. She continued by stressing that ” i asked my colleagues for ideas on questions that i could ask the new politician. One of them suggested that i ask’ History knocked your door. Di you answer?’ “.
According to the magazines report, the Canadian writer in her book points out that: ” At that time SYRIZA, Mr. Tsipra’s party was carrying out an excellent fight against austerity. However, it was struggling to form its own positive economic prospects. I was well impressed that SYRIZA did not oppose to the decision of the coalition for the exploitation of oil and gas, a threat to the beautiful seas of Greece and climate. Quite the opposite, instead claimed that the funds that will come from the project should be given to cover pensions and not to repay the counties creditors.
Further according to the NATION magazine, among others refers to the writers meeting with Mr. Tsipras the following day” When we met the following day, i bluntly mentioned to Mr. Tsipras that the concerns about the environmental crisis were overshadowed by other, much more direct. ”
Mr. Tsipras replied that :” ” The center of attention of our political party was the environment and climate change, but since the recession in Greece over the past few years, all that was forgotten”.
Finally, the magazine highlights that the Canadian writer expresses her opinion on the matter by stating that “it is of course perfectly understandable. It is also a terribly wasted opportunity and not only for one party of a country of the world. ”

Also Ms Klein added that “the research I have done over the last five years, has convinced me that climate change is a historic opening for progressive transformation” and “we have the opportunity to promote policies that will dramatically improve lives, to close the gap between rich and poor, to create a huge number of good jobs, as well as to” promote democracy, to make up for lost ground. “
