Venizelos: Not only does he insist on the Elia dilemma, but he even goes a step forward

Mr Venizelos did not attempt to moderate the climate caused by his last statements but he even went a step forward posing greater dilemmas and stating that “without us there is no government”.

“The government’s stability is ensured through the role of the progressive pole, through the role of PASOK that is now struggling in the political scheme of Elia, the Democratic side,” said Mr Venizelos exiting the Maximos Mansion, where he met Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and discussed on the government stability.

Mr Samaras when asked if the positions of the government partner disrupts stability said “The government cooperation has withstood over many difficulties. Be sure that it will last now, too.”.

“The question is not whether government stays and PASOK or Elia leaves. I repeat that without us there is no government,” president of PASOK stressed describing the argument of “blackmail” as a “joke”.

“What I’m saying is obvious,” he said. “I describe the reality in a democratically sensitive and honorable way. Because if you do not have the mandate, or even the tolerance, the understanding of Greek people you cannot move on. That’s how democracy works. There will be a legitimacy problem, because we need the participation of society, the national power and at least a typical consensus,” Mr Venizelos said.
