Brooke Birmingham is a famous blogger in the U.S. who was able to lose a lot of weight through dieting (171 pounds, to be precise). This is why she was contacted by the editors of Shape magazine who wanted to do an interview with her.

The interview was done by telephone and the magazine asked the girl to send a photograph of herself. However, the one Brooke sent them wasn’t to their liking. She sent a photo of her body as it really looks like after a big weight loss. The magazine then replied asking politely for a photo of herself with a shirt on. Brooke couldn’t understand why, since it is quite rare to see any women in the magazine wearing shirts. The magazine’s answer was an unconvincing excuse: the magazine has changed all of a sudden its policy and decided to have fully clothed people in that specific section.

Faced with the magazine’s refusal to publish her original photo, the blogger decline being featured. Instead she published the photo on her blog and wrote a post attacking the narrow standards of conventional female beauty.
