Prime Minister made it clear that tax relief measures are necessary to ensure the stability of government

The government does not have any other option especially since the recent polls have showed the main opposition party SYRIZA leading. Prime Minister is determined to proceed to his plan which is considered to be necessary in order to cover the lost ground. Whether Merkel was persuaded by Prime Minister’s statements and is determined to put some pressure on the lenders is something that can been seen next month during the negotiations with Troika.

However, Prime Minister made it clear that tax relief measures are necessary to defuse the internal pressure and the Greek government will insist on this during the first round of negotiations with Troika.

Mr. Samaras has sent a message to international lenders that this plan is necessary to ensure the stability of government and avoid proceeding to early elections. The Greek government, though, will have to wait until the upcoming meeting with Troika so as to draw its conclusions on the intentions of the lenders.
