Djokovic to compete in French Open after France lifts Covid pass requirements

The measure will take effect from March 14

Newsroom March 3 05:16

Tennis start Novak Djokovic will be able to compete in Roland Garros 2022 after the French government announced it would lift the Covid rules requiring people to show vaccination passes.

The French government is easing the measures for the coronavirus and after March 14 it abolishes the vaccination pass which was necessary for someone to enter the country.

This development paves the way for Novak Djokovic to play in the French Open 2022 (22 / 5-5 / 6) and to defend the title he won in 2021 against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

In addition, Nole will be able to play at the Monte Carlo Masters which will be held from 9 to 17 April.

The decision was announced by French Prime Minister Jean Castex, as the country gradually eases Covid health protocols amid signs the virus is receding in France. “The health situation is improving,” Castex told TF1 television on Thursday.

Face masks will also no longer be needed indoors from March 14, with the exception of public transport. The vaccine pass, however, remains mandatory to access elderly home care centres, Castex added.
