The outcome of the Samaras –  Venizelos meeting concluded to the mutual decision of the government asking next week for vote of confidence.

According to a statement of the governments representative Ms Sofia Voultepsi:

1.  The election of the new President of the Republic will proceed as provided by the Constitution and the constitutional practice, which is one month before the end of the current Presidents duties. That is in February of 2015

2. After the beginning of  the new summit of Parliament,  the government would immediately seek confirmation of the confidence of the Parliament,  in accordance with the Article 84 of the Constitution.

Venizelos: There is a plan that brings our homeland out of crisis

The Deputy Prime Minister and President of PASOK Mr. Evangelos Venizelos after the completion of his meeting with the Prime Minister Mr. Antonis Samaras stated that ” We decided on two institutional movements of political stability”.

He further continue by saying that: “The forces of irresponsibility, of demagogy and misery, will not pin down the country” while the Deputy Prime Minister assured that: ” Our country will move on because there is a plan that will drive her out of crisis to the day after”.

SYRIZA: The government collapses – Parliament is delegalized

After the meeting of Samaras – Venizelos concluded and the announcement of asking next week from the Parliament confidence vote, the president of SYRIZA made the following comments: ” The government shows signs of collapsing under the weight of major failure and social outcry. They are asking for confidence vote from a  Parliament that no longer operates within a legal framework”.

” Let’s hope that Mr. Samaras will have the courage to come to the Parliament and to defend the memorandum regime that he has agreed with Mrs. Merkel” added Mr .Tsipras, while SYRIZA  continue to reiterate its call for immediate early elections.
