Tens of thousands of Britons and not only have been waiting for endless hours since yesterday in the queue at the Palace of Westminster, to pay tribute to the monarch who dedicated 7 whole decades of her life to the throne of the United Kingdom.
As is natural in conditions of long hours of waiting, the fatigue is great, but so is the desire of the people to say goodbye to their queen.
Fatigue, however, is not only a factor for the people, but undoubtedly also for the guards who stand around and above the platform where Elizabeth’s coffin has been placed since yesterday.
These guards belong to three different military corps that serve as the monarch’s bodyguards and palace guards.
According to the Daily Mail, which publishes the relevant video, one of these guards fainted last night and fell face down on the stone floor of the huge hall where the monarch’s coffin was carried yesterday.
Moments before collapsing to the floor, the man appeared to be unable to stand properly on his feet, and had briefly stepped off the platform before returning to his seat.
The incident happened as the changing of the guard had begun and, according to the British newspaper, the live broadcast from the chamber of Westminster was interrupted for several minutes as police rushed to help the man.
