It looks like meat is back on the menu boys! 6 exceptional tavernas in the mountains of Greece

Superb eateries, at lush forest settings, established and run with devotion by individuals honouring the meat-eating tradition of mountainous Greece

Newsroom October 14 01:12

There are those unique individuals whose passionate and dedicated drive to their calling often produces something exceptional. This is what defines these owners of some of the most superb tavernas in the mountains of Greece.

Combining their love of Greece’s rugged mountainous regions and their dedication to fully preserving the meat-eating tradition of the countryside, they have established some of the most noteworthy eateries you could hope for. Many of these restauranteurs own herds, some even taking care of the livestock farming duties themselves. Others grow their own vegetables, while some go foraging for mushrooms and wild greens used at their eateries. Fresh sourdough bread is typically baked in wood-fired ovens at these mountain tavernas.
