Seismic surveys in Crete & Peloponnese – A NAVTEX was issued for the ship “Sanco Swift”

The NAVTEX is valid from today until further notice

The procedures for the start of the seismic surveys that will lead to drilling in 2025 in Crete and the Peloponnese are proceeding at a rapid pace.

NAVTEX issued by the Heraklion Station predicts that from today, November 8, 2022 and until further notice, areas in the Ionian Sea, the Western Sea and west and east of Crete are reserved for the Nanco Swift ship to carry out seismic surveys.

Already, the American company ExxonMobil and the EDEY (Hellenic Hydrocarbons Management Company) were on operational readiness for the start of seismic surveys, awaiting the departure of the vessel chartered by the Norwegian PGS, which specializes in geophysical surveys. The ship has completed the tests of its mechanical systems and is anchored in the Ports of Crete. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced the start of the investigations yesterday.
