This project concerns the construction of an Artificial Barrier and accompanying works along the Methori E/T in the area of Psathades Didymoteicho to Kornofolia Soufliou in P.E. Evros, to ensure public order and security.

As the Ministry of Citizen Protection states in its announcement, the rapid developments related to the “instrumentalisation” of the immigration issue, result in an unpredictable and unusual increase in immigration flows that extends along the land borders of the country with unforeseen consequences for the public order and security.

For this reason, rapid and effective treatment of the problem is required. In addition, it is considered necessary and urgent to extend the existing deterrent barrier in phase A, to a length of approximately 35 kilometres in the area between the “Psathades” settlement of Didymoteicho to the Kornofolia area of Soufli and which constitutes the first part of the total 140 kilometers.
