The Peristyle of Maitland is at the southern tip of Spaniada square. It is a circular, ionic monument, erected in honor of the first English Commissioner Thomas Maitland. General Maitland also left his mark as the most difficult English Commissioner. The work was created by military engineer G. Whitemore.
