The Russian Foreign Ministry has stated that “unilateral actions and shows of strength are intolerable, not just for the Cyprus issue but also for the whole of the eastern Mediterranean”. The statement follows violations perpetrated by Turkey in the Cypriot EEZ.

At the same time Moscow seems to be trying to have aggressive diplomatic talks with Turkish officials, which is something that Nicosia supports.
