The Hamas offensive is supported by Iran, with Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani congratulating the Palestinians, saying it is a successful operation that opens a new chapter “in the resistance and armed operation against the occupiers”.

Kanaani, in a statement to the Iranian news agency, said that “what happened today is a series of victories. The Palestinians have shown confidence.”

He added that he hopes this operation will bring more victories on the road to Palestinian freedom.
