Thessaloniki: Riots with stones and chemicals at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – Riot police entered the university premises

Riots have broken out at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with clashes between masked men and riot police raging. So far, seven arrests have been made.

It all started when hooded men entered the building of the Faculty of Philosophy, set up barricades at the entrance with desks and chairs, and threw objects at the police officers. Then riot police forces responded with the use of chemicals.

A few minutes after the riot police left the campus, masked men attacked again, from inside the UAS, with stones at the police forces on Egnatia. The police responded with the use of flash-bang grenades and tear gas.

The atmosphere was initially heightened after the march against the non-state universities, when masked men entered the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and threw stones at the riot police. The riots spread to the Chemistry Square, with the police responding with the use of chemicals.
