Mitsotakis to the EPP: No border change can be tolerated by Europe – Watch his speech

The Greek prime minister is the last of the speakers among the EPP party presidents, as ND plays a key role in the internal affairs of the European centre-right

Newsroom March 7 12:57

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis addresses the European People’s Party conference in Bucharest, a day after the Odessa horror and international condemnation of the ballistic missile attack.

Referring to modern demands, Mitsotakis congratulated the way the EU leadership has dealt with modern challenges, especially Ursula von der Leyen and Charles Michel.

“We are proud because our response to the pandemic was effective, with unity,” he said, referring to the pandemic, the war in Russia. “We sent a message that no violation of international law can be accepted by the European family.”

At the same time, he referred to the ballistic missile attack in Odessa.

“No one will intimidate us, we will play our role,” he said. “I think we all have a message for the Kremlin: we will not be afraid, we will continue to support Ukraine and its brave citizens for as long as it takes. And we remain united on this issue,” he said, making it clear that no border change would be tolerated.

He also made special reference to Greece’s economic progress. “We could not have done it without European help,” he said.

Mitsotakis is the last of the speakers among the EPP party presidents, just after Poland’s Donald Tusk, which also demonstrates the key role the New Democracy party plays in the internal affairs of the European centre-right.
