Stefanos Kasselakis: New questions from the government on lobster boats

The government insists after the responses, from SYRIZA

Newsroom March 11 06:13

New questions about the case with the lobster boats of Stefanos Kasselakis, following the publication of the ProtoThema, the government gives new questions,  while insisting that SYRIZA has not provided the necessary answers.

Specifically, according to government sources, yesterday, Sunday, there were two announcements by government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis, who addressed to SYRIZA specific questions, both about the companies of Mr. Kasselakis and “for the ‘side systems’ that operated in the Maximou during the days of Mr. Tsipras, as now confessed by his own ministers,” as they stress.

At the same time, the same sources point out that, “a day later, yesterday’s questions remain unanswered and all Mr. Kasselakis is doing is trying to victimise himself to avoid answers.

No one has asked him about his professional activities in general, but he has been asked to answer whether he knows what the law passed by his party’s government provides for political leaders and companies outside Greece.”

In this context, the government officials ask: “How many are his companies?

What has he done about them as stipulated by law?

How many of them, in fact, are in tax havens?”

and stress “as for the mud he attempted to throw at Mr Mitsotakis yesterday, it has long since been proven beyond any doubt that none of this is true.”

Kasselakis’ Statement of Assets and Liabilities in due time, party sources say.

Earlier, SYRIZA sources stressed that Stefanos Kasselakis’ Statement of Property Status will be filed in the prescribed time.

In the case of Mr. Kasselakis, an initial Statement of Property Status will be filed, as the President of SYRIZA had no active participation earlier in the political life of the country.

This procedure will “run” in the prescribed time and with the filing of this initial declaration, circles of Koumoundourou.

According to party sources, it is not yet known the time, in which the Declaration of Assets will be filed, but the procedure dictated by the Law on Ethics will be followed, while it will relate to the assets held by Mr. Kasselakis, as there was no obligation to pay the relevant statement in previous years, whenever there was a need for their comparison.

Unlike those who hold positions of responsibility (ministers) or have been elected MPs.

It should be noted that there are different legal interpretations, according to Koumoundourou sources, around the legislation.

Moreover, as the same sources point out, there is currently no violation established by the judiciary.

However, when Mr. Kasselakis is accused of a company in a foreign country, a political confrontation takes place, as they stressed, “pointing” to the New Democracy (ND), as this is not an offshore company of the President of SYRIZA, as they pointed out.

According to the same sources, the loan of the President of SYRIZA PS to the company “Left Media SA”, this has been returned to Mr. Kasselakis, without further clarification.

Finally, Koumoundourou confirmed a phone call of the President of SYRIZA PS, Stefanos Kasselakis to the candidate for state parliament, Zorzeta Lali, in order to investigate the possibility of her entry into the Parliament, in case of the resignation of Otto Iliopoulos.

Domino of reactions after the revelation – The government’s questions and SYRIZA’s circles

It is recalled that the political thermometer soared yesterday against the backdrop of the publication of “Proto Thema” for the lobster boats of the president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, the existence of which he revealed during his last television interview.

The two fishing boats, “lobster boats” according to the SYRIZA president, the “Timothy Michael”, built in 1984, 23 meters long and 106 tons capacity, as well as the “Debbie Ann” built in 1979, 19.76 meters long and 115 tons capacity, are placed in the fleet of the company Tm Lobstering LLC, which was founded in 2020 and is under Delaware tax status.

Referring to the revealing article, Government Spokesman Pavlos Marinakis said yesterday that “today’s (yesterday’s) report in the newspaper “Proto Thema” presents the business activities of Mr. Kasselakis abroad and the companies with the “lobster boats” as he called them in an interview”.

“From the publications, relentless questions are raised that demand answers from Mr. Kasselakis and Mr. Tsipras.

How many companies does the leader of SYRIZA have abroad after all?

What exactly are the professional activities of Mr Kasselakis, who constantly assures us indefinitely that we know everything about him, but in fact it turns out that we still have a lot to learn?

It would be good for the Greek citizens to find out “unmediated” and not from newspaper reports”, Mr. Marinakis argued.

Commenting on the statement of the Government Spokesman, SYRIZA circles responded that Mr. Marinakis “learned that the President of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis is a businessman!

He had even been active with lobster boats in the U.S.A., as he had revealed a few days ago in an interview!”, adding that “we are certainly not surprised by the delay with which they perceive things in Maximou.

As it seems, their ability is limited to ‘covering up’ how the Mitsotakis family acquired offshore companies.

If they need help, however, they are at their disposal.

It is possible that Mr. Kasselakis’ lobsters, on an overseas trip, before they were fished out, had ‘met’ some of the Mitsotakis family’s offshore companies…”.
