PM Mitsotakis gave a comprehensive interview covering all current affairs

Anyone who breaks the law will indeed receive a fine - Over 800 euros increase in the minimum wage

Newsroom March 12 12:13

New criticism was directed at Stefanos Kasselakis after the revelations about the lobster vessels by Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Tuesday morning, emphasizing that “we ask him one thing, and he answers something else.”

He also emphasized that SYRIZA is going too far by pointing fingers on legal issues after the Kontonis revelations and Tsipras’s mea culpa regarding the Novartis case.

The Prime Minister also addressed the tragedy in Tempi, describing as “unsubstantiated” what is being said about a “coverup” referring to politicians who are trying “to build careers ahead of the European elections with nonsense”.

Regarding the increase in the minimum wage from April 1st, the Prime Minister said it would be significant, exceeding 800 euros, and warned companies attempting to speculate that they would face corresponding fines.

For the high prices, he said that it’s accurate that it’s the first and most significant issue. “How do we respond? With wage increases. I will insist on this because we’ve set a target for 2027 for the average salary to be 1500 euros and the minimum 950. Businesses need to pay more to attract employees. This is the structural response, but that alone is not enough”.

There will be an increase in the minimum wage that will reach over 800 euros. The increase will be significant.

Regarding the European Elections he stated that, “we are the party of Europe. The people vote for who they want to represent them in the European Parliament. The next European cycle includes significant issues: Defense policy, immigration, common agricultural policy. ND’s goal for the European elections is to perform as best as possible”.

Talking about public health he said that “the goal is to say that something has changed in NHS during this four-year period without the discriminations that exist today. Afternoon surgeries finally start today. I don’t hear that there is no staff, I hear that there is interest from doctors and nurses”.

Discussing education he stated, “let’s look at the big picture: in the main argument, why should Greece be the only country, along with Cuba, to have a state monopoly on higher education, there is no answer. Why shouldn’t a student have more choices? We will also proceed with the amendment of Article 16. At the moment, we are utilizing the margins of Article 16 for annexes of non-profit universities. We don’t want universities of opportunism. Let’s wait for the interest of those who want to invest in Greek education, seeing it as a regional hub. We want Greece to be a regional educational center. I believe that by 2025 we will see the first tangible results”.

As regard to the Greek-Turkish relations he said that “the scheduling is to visit Ankara sometime in May in return for Erdogan’s visit to Athens”.

For Freddi Belleris he stated, that “we have expressed our strongest reservations about the fact that he was not allowed to be sworn in, as well as whether it was a fair trial. The way Albania handled this issue has negatively affected relations with Greece.

For the attack during his visit in Odessa he said that “we didn’t exactly understand what happened, but one can certainly understand what it means to be in a war zone. We are not in favor of the policy of equal distances, but we are in favor of the defendant, and that’s why we will continue to support Ukraine.

As for the dilemma “Trump or Biden” he stated, “whoever the American people choose. Greek-American relations are very strong, and I don’t believe they will be derailed whoever is elected”.
