Apostolos Christou took back the national record in the 200m backstroke, recording an impressive 1:56.34, during the first day of the Panhellenic Swimming Championships, at the Poseidonion in Thessaloniki.
The Olympiacos athlete had been the holder of the national record for years, but he saw 19-year-old Apostolos Sisko break it at the World Championships in Doha last February, when he swam twice (qualifying and final) in 1:56.64.

Christou seemed determined to get his… revenge, winning the event and regaining the national record, while at the same time confirming his Olympic Games qualifying mark.
Siskos also went under the limit for Paris, but settled for second place with 1:57.23
