In the afternoon in the central and northern continental areas local clouds will develop and there will be a few showers or isolated thunderstorms in the mountains mainly in western and central Macedonia. The winds will blow from the north in the Aegean Sea with local winds of 6 and occasionally 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will reach 33 to 35 degrees Celsius in the northern mainland, 36 to 38 degrees Celsius in the rest of the mainland and 34 to 36 degrees Celsius in the islands.

In Attica, thin clouds are forecast, which will become thicker in places in the midday and afternoon hours. The winds will be northerly in the east at 5 Beaufort. The temperature from 23 to 37 to 38 degrees, in the east the maximum will be 3 to 4 degrees lower.

In Thessaloniki thin clouds, which will become thicker in places in the midday and afternoon hours, when local showers or isolated thunderstorms are likely to occur, mainly in the mountains. The winds will be light, the temperature between 23 and 33 degrees.

High temperatures were recorded for another day in the mainland on Monday 24/06, as clearly shown in the temperature colour scale of the following map, where according to the network of automatic weather stations of the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr, 149 weather stations recorded maximum temperatures above 35 °C.

The highest maximum temperatures were recorded in the central and southern regions, with the highest maximum temperature recorded in Stylida, Fthiotida, at 38.3 °C.

The weather today

Sunshine is forecast with a few clouds increasing in the afternoon and evening hours in the west and mainland, with local rain or isolated thunderstorms in the mountains of Epirus, Macedonia, Central Central Sterea and possibly the Peloponnese. The atmospheric circulation favours the transport of dust from North Africa, mainly in the western parts.

The temperature will range from 20 to 36 degrees in Northern Greece (in Western Macedonia from 18 to 33 degrees), 22 to 38 degrees in Central and Southern Greece (in Thessaly locally up to 39 degrees), 20 to 40 degrees in Western Greece, 23 to 32 degrees in the Cyclades and from 18 to 35 degrees in Crete, 22 to 37 degrees in the East Aegean islands and from 24 to 32 degrees in the Dodecanese.
