The fire department was alerted Thursday morning when it was called to intervene to extricate a 47-year-old municipal employee who was struck by a tree during tree-cutting operations inside a school complex.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Ionia and Argyrokastro Streets, at Papagoy, while the 12 firefighters and the four vehicles that operated, recovered unconscious the 47-year-old and handed him over to an ambulance of the EKAB, which transported him to “Gennimatas” where his death was confirmed.
