Thessaloniki: A 75-year-old man was sentenced for sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl – She revealed the incident to her teacher

The 75-year-old relative got a seven-year prison sentence but was released due to a suspension pending appeal. His wife claimed it was all lies

Newsroom July 3 09:41

The accused was found guilty of continuous abuse of a minor while the court decided that his appeal should have a suspensive effect and he was released, until the Court of Appeal, under the conditions of a ban on leaving the country, appeared at the police station and a ban on approaching the victim. It is noted that, after the complaint, the elderly man was deemed remand and taken to prison, however, after a few months and following a request from the defense, it was decided to continue his house arrest with electronic monitoring (armband).

The minor revealed the nightmare to her teacher

The horrific case of sexual abuse of the minor came to light in June 2022 when the girl, aged 12, disclosed to her teacher the nightmare she was living at the hands of the accused, who took advantage of being a close relative and sexually abused her.

Specifically, as the girl’s teacher testified, who acted immediately and decisively to bring the case to justice, her student decided to talk to her a week before the end of the school year, after a lesson on the reproductive system between a man and a woman of a woman whose main axis was sexual education.

“I felt it was important to explain to the children the significance of respecting and cherishing our bodies, emphasizing the importance of not allowing anyone to touch us inappropriately or make us feel uncomfortable. I stressed the seriousness of such situations and encouraged the children to approach their parents or teachers if they ever encountered any such difficulties. Following the lesson, I proceeded to the school entrance. Shortly after, the friends of a girl approached me and informed me that what I had discussed had unfortunately transpired with their friend. One of them recounted that she had been “teased” by someone, confirming the gravity of the situation.”

The little girl is frightened.

The teacher noticed the 12-year-old girl in a state of shock and fear and promptly escorted her to the principal’s office to inquire about what had occurred. “She confided in me, saying that ‘someone does things to me that I don’t want when I return home.’ I inquired about the person’s identity, and she disclosed that it happened upon entering her apartment building, involving a distant relative,” the teacher recounted. “She mentioned it occurs in a storage facility. ‘He touches me, kisses me, forces me to touch him,’ she detailed, also describing his private parts. She revealed that this has been ongoing since she got her house keys, at least a year ago.

Throughout our conversation, she was distressed and emotionally charged,” recounted the girl’s teacher. “More distressing incidents have unfolded…” The teacher disclosed that they informed the girl’s parents, who were deeply shocked by the revelations. However, the student’s disclosure to her teacher did not end there, as later that day she approached her teacher once more, providing further troubling details about the abuse she endured. “We moved to an empty classroom where she recounted more harrowing experiences beyond what she previously shared. She mentioned incidents from a younger age, during her elementary school days. He would lure me into a room claiming to show me something, and then things would escalate further, she shared with me.” When questioned whether she had been raped by the perpetrator, the minor affirmed. The teacher further stated that she informed the school director and the parents, prompting immediate action to follow the required protocols and inform the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.

The court also heard testimony from the defendant’s wife, who emphasized that she adores her husband and does not believe he committed the acts he is accused of.

“I do not fear my husband, I adore him. He has never hit me, he has never insulted me. We have been together for 50 years; I would have left him if he had done such a thing. God sees and does not love injustice. My husband never did this; I would kill someone over this. That storage room is where I keep my rugs and brooms at the entrance of the building. This is a conspiracy,” said the witness.

During his testimony, the defendant denied the charges against him.
